FOURTEEN

By L. J. Ernster © February, 1961

Our fourteenth year is now the past, A year of joy for me.
Though once again we are apart, This nevermore shall be.
Each day the lord has given us, Has been a day of bliss.
Oh loving Angel, wife of mine, I ask no more than this.
To spend each long dark night with you, In love‟s sweet tenderness.
To hold you in my arms and feel, Your loving, soft caress.
To help you in your daily chores,
And see your happy smile,
To spend my life as your love slave, Will make my life worthwhile.
(This was written while I was in Chicago for three months in early 1961 attending an Ink Technology Class presented by my employer at the time.
My homesickness for my loved ones is apparent)
