FRIENDS

FRIENDS

By L. J. Ernster © October 6, 1988

Up in the Lost Sierra,
Where the mountains meet the sky,
Live our dear friends, Charles and Virginia, On a hill where the Lord is nigh.
Their home stands like a steeple,
On that mountainside above,
And the Lord knows these fine people, Are always thought of with love.
Their kindness and love we shall never forget,
Though the years have swept us apart, The things we shared are with us yet, Just as they were at the start.
We traveled a trail with many bends, High above Huntington Lake. Without the help of our good friends, 'Twas a trip we never could take.
We thought of them as our teachers, Though not teaching two times two.
They taught us all about friendship,
And the things that good friends do.
They are friends to all our kinder,
Our kinder are their friends,
Pray God this friendship tender, Goes on and never ends.
